Description: We document and describe practically unknown varieties of Arabic in South Iran, ensuring a long-lasting record and accessibility of the language data.We create a digital corpus of spoken Arabic from the South-Iranian provinces Bushehr and Hormozgan.We explore the linguistic situation of the Arabic varieties from a socio-linguistic and an areal-linguistic perspective.We investigate the phonology, morphology, syntax and prosody of the Arabic varieties from a cross-dialectal perspective.We examine linguistic contact phenomena between Arabic and Persian.
