Description: This session is made up of a section of Kunda natives who have shown up to participate in the research. After being taken through a short verse of Animere music by Nana Heema, they are happy to sing along as a group. The lyrics of the song means that 'God exists so we will go and return'. This is a song of hope and faith that are sung when one is embarking on a journey / ɔfa yi yɛ Kundafoɔ a ɔmo aba reboa Animere documentation dwumadie no. Description: This project aims to comprehensively document Animere as used in two villages in Oti, Ghana: Kecheibi (NkwantaSouth) and Kunda (KrachiEast). Animere is not being learnt by children. Speaker numbers have decreased to only 17 (12 Kecheibi; 5 Kunda), all above 50 years. In each site there are mainly five named languages in daily use: Animere, Adele Twi, Ewe, English. We propose to document Animere in the two multilingual ecologies recording, representing, and analysing lexicon, grammar and speech patterns based on the performance of cultural activities: oral genres, conversations, and narratives.
