Title: Animal traps / Trampas para animales

Description: This session focuses on animal traps used for hunting. It includes demonstrations of how to make different types of animal traps (recordings _01 through _09), and an interview about the process (recordings _10, _11 and _12). In recordings _01, _02 and _03 the participants are making a jaguar trap;In _04 and _05: bird trip, called yumbitu, to catch pian pian birds;In _06, _07 and _08: panga tijta/tikta made with leaves and sticks to catch rabbits and other small animals;In _09: panwa trap, made with trunks of wood to crush the animal. EAF files _01, _02 and _03 are time-aligned transcriptions and translations into Spanish, which have been revised twice to ensure accuracy. The remaining files (_04-_12) have time-aligned transcription and translation into Spanish, but have not been revised. All transcriptions were carried out by experienced native-speaker transcribers. This session can be of interest to researchers interested in hunting, subsistence, local wildlife and in craftsmanship. --------------------------------La sesión se enfoca en trampas para cazar animales. Incluye demonstraciones de cómo hacer diferentes tipos de trampas (archivos _01 hasta _09) y unas entrevistas sobre el proceso de elaboración de las trampas (archivos _10, _11 y _12). En las grabaciones _01, _02 y _03 los participantes elaboran una trampa para atrapar jaguares (‘tigres’);En las grabaciones _04 y _05: una trampa para pájaros, llamada yumbitu, para atrapar los pájaros pian pianEn las grabaciones _06, _07 y _08: panga tijta/tikta, hecha con palitos y hojas, para atrapar a conejos y animales de porte similar. En _09, trampa panwa, hecha con troncos para aplastar al animal. Los archivos EAF _01, _02 y _03 contiene transcripciones alineadas con el video, con traducción al español e revisada dos veces para asegurar la calidad. Los archivos de _04 a _12 también contienen transcripción y traducción al español alineadas, pero no han sido revisados. Todas las transcripciones han sido realizadas por transcriptores expertos, hablantes nativos del kichwa. La sesión puede ser de interés para los investigadores interesados en prácticas de subsistencia, la caza, animales locales e artesanía.

Description: English: This deposit is a result of a collaborative documentation of Upper Napo Kichwa, conducted with participation of native-speaker researchers Wilma Aguinda, Jacobo Chimbo, Nilo Licuy Andy and Edwin Shiguango, among others. The project focused on documenting language in-use, and contains naturalistic discourse from a variety of genres (e.g. conversations, interviews, life stories, procedural texts, legends, community events). Naturalistic data are complemented by elicitation on various aspects of the grammar, above all on evidentiality and information structure. The majority of the recordings are transcribed in Kichwa and translated into Spanish in ELAN, and a subset also contains morpheme-by-morpheme glosses in Spanish and English, as well as an English translations, also in ELAN. The vast majority of the transcription was carried out by native speakers of Kichwa. ------------------------- Español: Este depósito es un resultado de un proyecto colaborativo de documentación del Kichwa de Alto Napo. Fue llevado a cabo con la participación de investigadores que son hablantes nativos de la lengua: Wilma Aguinda, Jacobo Chimbo, Nilo Licuy Andy y Edwin Shiguango, entre otros. El proyecto se enfoca en la documentación del uso natural de la lengua, y contiene grabaciones audiovisuales de varios géneros discursivos (p. ej. conversaciones, entrevistas, historias de vida, instrucciones, leyendas, eventos comunitarios). El uso natural de la lengua está acompañado por grabaciones de elicitación enfocada en diferentes ámbitos de la gramática, sobre todo en la evidencialidad y la estructura de la información. La mayoría de las grabaciones han sido transcritas en kichwa y traducidas al español en ELAN, e una parte también ha sido desglosada morfema por morfema, con glosas y traducción en español e inglés. La gran mayoría de las transcripciones fue llevada a cabo por hablantes nativos.
