Description: Klaus Zimmermann's language recordings come from the Valle de Mezquital, the state of Hidalgo, and focus on language contact between Otomí - Hñähñü and Spanish. The language recordings were made by Klaus Zimmermann in collaboration with Aurelio Penca (a native Otomí speaker). The language recordings provide the data for the empirical basis of the habilitation thesis (title: Sprachkontakt, ethnische Identität und Identitätsbeschädigung. Aspekte der Assimilation der Otomí-Indianer an die hispanophone mexikanische Kultur). The voice recordings were made from the mid-late 1980s. This voice recordings by Klaus Zimmermann of the Otomí-Hñähñü were digitised and archived by Harald Thomaß as part of the project: Indigenous Voices from Mesoamerica, financed by the Gerda Henkel Foundation.
