Title:
Names of boys and men / Nombres de niños y adultos hombres
Description:
Luis and Adrián make a list of E'ñapa names male children get when they are born: Chikejpë, Chipëran, Etyaana, Kanapai’, Koꞌwayo, Natunwa, Në’kiri, Samariya, Tapeerowa, Tyamëtu. They have these names until they are between 6 and 9 years old, depending on the parents, who organize the rite of passage into adulthood. Mañën, Najtë, Puka, Tëna, Tosë, Wïñeꞌ, are the five names that male children can get after the ceremony during which they get their firs loincloth. The ceremony consists on typical traditional dances. Another topic they discuss is the wish that everyone in the community agrees on how to include the E'ñapa names in the birth certificates and the national identification document, to be able to keep their E'ñapa name, for example, Najtë Adrián, Tëna Luis. They added to the list of names speaking about children's' sports, during which they learn to use hunting tools: spear, blowguns and arrows. They do it with respect to the second naming of the children. Male children can be with their father or with some elders with whom they can learn about E'ñapa traditional work (practices). For example, weaving to be capable of doing it later.
