Description: This documentation project focuses on recording and preserving the linguistic and cultural heritage of Chilisso, a severely endangered language spoken by approximately 500–600 individuals in the Kohistan region of Pakistan. The project aims to collect a rich corpus of natural speech, with particular emphasis on stories, personal narratives, and traditional recipes. These genres are especially valuable because they capture not only the structure of the language but also the cultural knowledge, oral traditions, and everyday practices embedded within it. Fieldwork will be conducted in Kohistan, where the researcher will work closely with native speakers to record, transcribe, and analyze the data. The resulting documentation will contribute to the preservation of Chilisso by creating a lasting record for both the speech community and the broader academic field, supporting future research in linguistics and helping maintain an important part of the region’s intangible cultural heritage.
