Summary of the collection
English: The deposit is a result of a documentation of Bororo language and culture, funded by ELAR 2024. The project was a collaborative effort of a linguist, Mariel Kujibo Ekureu, and the Salesian Mission of Mato Grosso. Fabrício Gerardi and Mariel Kujibo Ekureu transcribed and translated the data. The deposited data encompasses a wide variety of genres and topics, all of which have been recorded on video, as well as audio.

O projeto foi um esforço colaborativo entre a linguista Mariel Kujibo Ekureu e a Missão Salesiana de Mato Grosso. Fabrício Gerardi e Mariel Kujibo Ekureu transcreveram e traduziram os dados. O material depositado abrange uma ampla variedade de gêneros e temas, todos registrados tanto em vídeo quanto em áudio.

Language information
English: Bororo is the only surviving member of a language family once known to include at least five distinct languages. Today, it is spoken by roughly one-third of the entire Bororo population (ca. 3000), who are spread across five Indigenous territories. However, the language is now considered severely endangered, primarily because intergenerational transmission has been disrupted.
Português: Bororo é o único membro remanescente de uma família linguística antes composta por pelo menos cinco línguas distintas. Hoje em dia, é falado por cerca de um terço de toda a população Bororo (cerca de 3000), que vive em cinco terras indígenas. No entanto, a língua é considerada gravemente ameaçada, sobretudo devido à interrupção da transmissão intergeracional.
